Rucking, measured
Carry weight.
Cover ground.
Keep the receipt.
Rucking is walking with a loaded pack. haultrek is where those walks become a record — logged, measured in kg·km, and ranked against people carrying what you carry.

The metric
One number for how far and how heavy
Distance alone undersells a heavy walk. Weight alone ignores the ground you covered. The haul multiplies the two, so a short walk under a heavy pack and a long walk under a light one can finally be compared.
haul (kg·km) = pack weight (kg) × distance (km)
Prefer imperial? The toggle in the header switches every number on the site to lb·mi. Units are a display choice — leaderboards always compare like with like underneath.
What you get
Log the walk
Sync from Garmin, drop in a FIT or GPX file, or type it in. Rucking is unusually friendly to manual entry — distance, time and pack weight is the whole story.
Start logging →Rank by what you carry
Leaderboards split by weight class — under 10 kg, 10–20, 20 plus — and by bodyweight and age group. A 60 kg walker never has to out-haul a 100 kg one to place.
See a crew board →Walk somewhere, virtually
779 km of the Camino Francés drawn on the real route. Everest by cumulative climb. Fifty-two rucks in fifty-two weeks. Progress you can point at.
See challenges →Pack it properly
Lay your gear out and get scored on load, balance and reach — where the mass sits, and whether you can get at the rain shell without emptying the bag.
Try the packer →Honest boards
Verified and hand-entered, never mixed
A ruck that came off a watch and a ruck someone typed in are both welcome — they are just not the same claim. Every row on every board carries its mark, so you always know which you are looking at.
Know-how
the questions people actually ask- What is rucking?Walking with weight is the short answer. Here is what makes it rucking, how it differs from hiking and weighted-vest walking, and what a first session looks like.
- How fast should you ruck?A useful pace is one you can hold without changing your gait. Use effort first, then learn what the clock means on flat ground, hills and event day.
- A four-week beginner rucking planEight deliberately unheroic sessions: learn the pack, add a little time, and finish the month ready to progress instead of ready to recover.
- Knee, shin and back pain from rucking: what to change firstThis is not a diagnosis. It is a triage guide: which training and packing variables to remove first, what should settle, and what deserves professional assessment.
